We have the Düxer Kirmes right in front of our door twice every year!
Directly on the Rhine promenade on Siegburger Str. (So right in front of the door of our holiday apartment! But don't worry, you won't hear the noise of the fair because the apartment is at the back) there is the Easter fair or also Called Spring Folk Festival and then again in autumn. Over 800,000 visitors were able to try out all the rides or simply enjoy the beautiful view of the Cologne Cathedral and drink a delicious Kölsch and eat something.
Procedure and rides
The rides and booths open for sixteen days from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. and on the weekend even from 11 a.m. Traditionally there will be a huge fireworks on the last Friday of the event (around 9 p.m.).
- Monster (altitude of 45 meters!)
- Predator (a gondola hurls the passengers in a circle at about 100 kilometers per hour)
- or the Magic House (obstacle course)
The classics are certainly the " Wild Mouse " or bumper cars and numerous children's rides. Family days are regularly offered so that large families can have fun at affordable prices. The " Europa Riesenrad " (55 Merten height!) Is definitely an absolute highlight. It is the world's (!) Tallest mobile ferris wheel.
Enclosed you will find some photos that we took ourselves:

The apartment Cologne is looking forward to spring!
Cologne - 26.03.2016 It's finally that time again! The spring fair starts again and with the beautiful weather that we had yesterday in Deutz and of course the whole cathedral city, thousands of people streamed into the city and the Rhine again! From 2 p.m. onwards, more and more people came to the banks of the Rhine to enjoy the sun or perhaps take a stroll through the fair. The layout of the fairground rides is slightly different this year: "The Wild Mouse" is not in the direction and field of vision of the Cologne Cathedral this year, but at the very other end of the fair. But now the big Ferris wheel is right next to the Deutz Bridge as the first ride and the couples in love can be happy because they now have a really great view of the old town and the cathedral on the Ferris wheel! The Fewo Köln wishes you a lot of fun again this year at our great festival!
Regular Easter mass at the fair
It is already a firm custom that an Easter mass is held at the fair every year. You don't believe that? Yes, this is not a joke, but a very special way of experiencing the Church directly in life. The showmen have their own service in the middle of the fair under the roof of the bumper car! Pastor Sascha Ellinghaus prays here on Sunday morning and also invites local residents and other visitors. It is the parish of the Catholic Circus and Showman Pastoral Care of the German Bishops' Conference. Ms. Hannelore Bartscherer (Chairwoman of the Catholic Committee of the City of Cologne) has been coming to the fair for years and is happy about the special atmosphere. So if you want to experience a very special church service, then next year you will be at the spring fair in Deutz!
