Ferienwohnung Köln presents: the Museum of East Asian Art

In the Museum of East Asian Art you can easily get to know Asia. This wonderful art museum presents works from faraway East Asia. It was founded in 1913 with a collection by the married couple Adolf and Frieda Fischer. The museum makes an important contribution to the search for art from all over the world.

Unfortunately, large parts of the collection and the building were destroyed in World War II. The museum was reopened in 1977. The architect responsible was the Japanese Kunio Maekawa. Even today, many of the Fischer couple's works form the basis of the collection. The museum now contains ceramics, paintings, sculptures and various other works of art. Visitors should have easy access to Asian art and be able to compare it with European art.

Exhibitions in the museum

Various exhibitions are regularly presented there, which complement the museum's normal art base. For example, there were the exhibitions "The Printed Image" and other highlights from the last 40 years of the Museum of East Asian Art's history. Japanese woodcuts were also presented, which looked wonderful.

At each special exhibition, visitors can also view the museum's regular collection. The museum's regular collection presents works of art from Japan, Korea and China. Highlights of the museum include an axe from China, a water and moon gwaneum from Korea and a wooden sculpture from Japan. What is special about the museum is its particularly comprehensive presentation of Asian art.
