History of Pesch
In 1312 Pesch was first mentioned. In 1609 the name "Besch" appeared as a name in a plan by Abraham Hogenberg. Four farms were included in the plan. From an etymological point of view, Pesch can be derived from Latin from the word "pascuum - pasture" or from the word Busch. The Krischhof (war courtyard) and three other courtyards and four houses were also mentioned in documents in 1657. The Donatus Chapel faces the war courtyard. It was built in a baroque style. The chapel is one of the oldest buildings in Pesch.
The year 1774 can be read on it. The French troops also stopped in Pesch in 1794. Pesch was assigned to the Mairie Stommel. That was in the canton of Dormagen. In 1815 Pesch was integrated into the Kingdom of Prussia. Pesch belonged to the mayor's office of Stommeln. In 1927 this was renamed to Stommeln. Again in 1934, Pesch was at the Pulheim office. The municipality of Sinnersdorf took over Pesch in 1964.
