Roggendorf / Thenhoven

The district has a lot of fields and the forest area of Chorbusch. This passes seamlessly into the Knechtsted forest area. The Pletschbach flows charmingly through the town. This flows into the Rhine at Worringen. There are also numerous converted courtyards in the district. Many are still partly used for agriculture. As a result, the district has a village character and natural charm. Seen north, Dormagen-Hackenbroich forms the border and Worringen northeast. Esch / Auweiler and Pulheim-Sinnersdorf are in the south-west. The nature reserve Worringer Bruch and Blumenberg form the border in the east.

History

In 948 Thenhoven was first mentioned in a document as "Thiedinhove" . The battle of Worringen took place in 1288. 1298 is called a tapestry by Thiedenhoven. The latter sold a piece of land in Tiedenhoven to the Cologne cathedral. On June 21, 1306, Jakob von Thedinhoven is named. The document dates from the Middle Ages. Thenhoven and Roggendorf belonged to the Electorate of Cologne until 1794. The double village also fell under French occupation. The villages were incorporated into the Mairie Worringen. The villages grew together as early as the 19th century. They belonged to the Mayor's Office of Worringen until 1922.

There are odd house numbers in Thenhoven. In Roggendorf , the house numbers are even numbers . Quettinghofstrasse is the boundary between the two places. The incorporation took place on April 1, 1922. In 1975 both became part of the city. Each location would have been too small as a district. A territorial reform took place on January 1, 1975. Since then, the neighborhoods have belonged together.

Religion

Catholics mostly live in the districts. A church was built in 1866. Roggendorf / Thenhoven has had its own cemetery since 1887. In 1987 the cemetery was expanded and blessed on All Saints' Day.
