The story

It was probably a Franconian settlement that left its mark here. The first written reference to Mauenheim dates from 1199 (sometimes still under the names "Maulheim" or "Mouvenheim"). In its origins, the place (still operating under the name "Herrlichkeit Mauenheim" ) was still significantly larger and went right up to the area of today's knickknack. Mauenheim was then under the Cologne St. Kunibert Stift. The great "glory of Mauenheim" was dissolved in 1794 by the French troops. In the end the place landed again in the "Mayor's Office Longerich" and was quasi conquered or incorporated into Cologne in a package with many other places in 1888. The parish church of St. Quirinius (Catholic) was built there in 1927.

Buildings, squares and structures

A fairly well-known housing estate was built or built in Mauenheim. It is the so-called "Green Court". This is a large collection of rental apartments in a courtyard settlement. The tram lines here are lines: 12, 13 and 15. There are two bus lines to Mauenheim (121 and 140). If you are traveling by car, it is best to drive on federal road number 9.
