The district Langel is located on the right bank of the Rhine and is located in the south of Cologne. Langel belongs to the municipality of Porz and has an area of 5.33 km². The district has about 3439 inhabitants.

Location of the district

Langel has Ranzel as its southeastern border, the southern border is Lülsdorf. These are districts of Niederkassel. The Rhine forms the western border with Langel . Zündorf is the northern border. The districts Godorf and Sürth are located west of the Rhine.

History

In 965 the name Langel was first mentioned. It was called "Langalon" . Langel belongs to the Porz office and has been doing so since the Middle Ages. In 1635 immigration regulations were passed. All new citizens had to be sworn in. All villagers had to take care of the church tower and the bells of the Catholic church. This was an instruction from the Saint Pantaleon Abbey. The pastor and the sexton were to be provided with food. In 1806 there was a new structure in the administration. Langel then belonged to the Rhine department in the manner of the French. In 1815 Langel came to Prussia. In 1928 the name was changed to Amt Porz . This office was expanded in 1929 with the Heumar office. Langel was incorporated in Cologne in 1975.

Leisure time in the district

With the TuS Langel, the district owns the largest sports club . In addition to football, the offer also includes mass sports. The club also owns a ballet group. Families with low incomes can also use the association. Ballet is otherwise known as an expensive sport. The volunteer fire department also has a marching band. The marching band occurs in the carnival season, but also outside of this time.

Traffic

There is no direct road connection in Langel. The former Kleinorf Zündorf-Siegburg was discontinued. There are plans for a connection. However, the owner of the neighboring country spits here for an agreement.

“Fritz Middelanis” is on the move 362 days a year and can be used as a good alternative to the Leverkusen autobahn bridge, which at the moment (bridge damage) is no longer used by truck vehicles with a weight of more than 3.5 tons can be driven on.
