Fewo Köln introduces: Lind

Lind : The district is located southeast of Cologne. Lind was incorporated on January 1, 1975. Lind belongs to the municipality of Porz and has an area of 2,248 km² with about 3420 inhabitants.

The location of Lind

Northeast Grengel forms the border to the district of Lind. The border is formed to the south-east and south by Troisdorf-Spich. Libur is the western border and north is Wahn and Wahnheide is its border.

History

Lind was first mentioned in 1165. The Porz office has been responsible for Lind since the Middle Ages. This in turn belongs to the Duchy of Berg. Lind was also occupied by the French in 1795. Therefore Lind was incorporated into the Mairie craze. This belonged to the canton Mülheim in the Rhin department. The Kingdom of Prussia was then responsible for Lind from 1815. From 1816 Lind belonged to the mayor's office Wahn. Later, in 1929, the Porz office was again responsible. In 1932 the Rheinisch-Bergisch district and in 1975 Lind was incorporated.

The scrub mill ponds

The Scheuermühlenteiche are particularly well-known in Lind and through this the district of Lind has just become known. It is a natural monument located on the edge of the so-called Bergische Heideterasse. There has been a mill there since the 13th century, which was or was driven by the water from the ponds there. In 1818 the barn was sold by the barons Eltz zu Rübenach. Then also the mill, which is located on the site. It was sold to the Prussian state, which built a parade ground there. In 1949 the old mill was completely demolished.

How do you live in Lind?

In Lind, the approximately 3500 citizens live in apartment buildings and also some single-family houses and row houses. Most of these are residential areas that have just been created. If you are not living on the main street in Linz, it is very quiet and green. The business park is in the west of Frankfurter Strasse and there is also the furniture store called Porta, for example.
