History of Lövenich

Lövenich first appeared in the history books in 1028 and was mentioned there under the Latin name "Luviniacum" . The village "Luviniacum" was characterized by agriculture and it was therefore home to many farmers. It was led by the Order of St. John and the Archbishop of Cologne. Unfortunately, this place was also occupied by French troops in 1794 and, as part of an organizational assignment by Napoleon around 1800, was combined with the places Weiden, Üsdorf, Großkönigsdorf, Kleinkönigsdorf and Junkersdorf as "Mairie de Levenich". Then in 1815 Lövenich again belonged to Prussia and was finally reinstated in the Cologne district in 1816.

The Mayor's Office of Lövenich was founded, which then became the office Lövenich in 1928. The small village of Brauweiler was then assigned to this office in 1934. In order to make the confusion complete and to complicate the administrative history, the office was finally renamed Weiden in 1937 and then abolished in 1951. Now please don't ask me why. As a result, the towns of Brauweiler and Lövenich became non-official municipalities. With a last change in administration, the municipality of Lövenich was assigned to the district of Lindenthal in 1975 (exactly on January 1st).

Unfortunately there are not many buildings in the district that should be mentioned in any way. Here is just the following:

Traffic

The traffic connection of the place can be described as very good. It can be easily reached both by motorway (the A1) and by public transport.
S-Bahn lines S12, S13 and S19 run at the "Lövenich" stop. There is also the tram stop "Weiden Zentrum" which is very easy to reach and the tram will take you to the center of Cologne in about 20 minutes.

Line 961 should be mentioned here as a bus line. So there is a good connection with public transport.
